St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School

Students at St. Jean de Brébeuf Secondary School recently had the opportunity to try something new in their physical education program — wheelchair basketball! The school’s phys-ed department brought back this unique parasport clinic, giving Grade 10–12 students hands-on experience with an adaptive sport that emphasizes skill, strength, and teamwork.

We are pleased to share that the 2025 drinking water test results for all schools within the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board are now available. St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School has met all Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks standards, with lead levels testing at or below the provincial limit of 10 micrograms per litre (10 µg/L).

Grade 11 PTech students from St. Jean de Brébeuf (SJB) and Cathedral High School (CHS) spent the day at Mohawk College, diving into Boolean Algebra alongside their Mohawk college instructor. These students are part of the PTech Dual Credit Program, offered through the School-College-Work Initiative, which allows them to earn both secondary school and college credits simultaneously while exploring an advanced computer technology pathway.

Former Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board student Josh Omojafo is making headlines as a senior guard for the University of South Florida Bulls in the American Conference. Standing 6’5 and hailing from Hamilton, Ontario, Omojafo’s journey began at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Elementary school to St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary High School, where he excelled in basketball, football, track and was an Honour Roll student. Josh earned a full basketball scholarship to attend NCAA DII Gannon University in Erie, PA.

On Tuesday, November 18th, St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School had the honour of welcoming back Brian McGrattan—former NHL player, mental-health advocate, and proud Brébeuf graduate—who delivered an unforgettable presentation to our students. Brian’s story of determination, adversity, and personal growth offered a powerful reminder that success is never linear, and that resilience is built through the challenges we face.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) will take place at St. Jean de Brébeuf CSS on Thursday, November 20, 2025, during the morning session. The day will remain an instructional day for all students, with a modified timetable in the afternoon. Our goal is to ensure the best possible testing environment for all students writing the OSSLT.
