Bullying Awareness & Prevention Week
November 16–22, 2025
At St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School, we believe that every child is created in the image of God and deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected in our school community. As a Catholic school, we are committed to nurturing an environment rooted in compassion, dignity, and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
From November 16–22, 2025, schools across Ontario—including all HWCDSB schools—will participate in Bullying Awareness & Prevention Week. This week provides an important opportunity for students, staff, and families to learn more about bullying, understand its impact, and work together to promote positive relationships. Bullying, including cyberbullying, is never tolerated in our Catholic community.
Throughout the week, schools across our board will be using the HWCDSB Bullying Awareness & Prevention Week Resource Kit to guide daily prayers, reflections, morning announcements, and classroom activities that support student well-being and reinforce our mission to ensure all students feel a sense of belonging.
Each day will focus on a different gospel-rooted theme:
Monday – See With the Eyes of Christ
Students will reflect on what it means to view others with compassion and empathy.
Tuesday – Walk Together in Friendship
Classes will highlight inclusion, kindness, and the importance of supporting one another.
Wednesday – Speak Truth with Courage
Students will learn about safely speaking up and reporting concerns when witnessing bullying.
Thursday – Build Bridges of Belonging
We will focus on community, connection, and ensuring no one stands alone.
Friday – Live the Love of Christ
The week concludes with acts of service, gratitude, and demonstrations of Christ-like love.
These activities help students understand what bullying is, how it affects others, and how each of us can work together to create a safe and welcoming school environment
How Parents Can Support
We ask families to join us in reinforcing these important messages at home by:
-
Talking with your child about kindness, empathy, and inclusion
-
Encouraging them to speak up if they see or experience bullying
-
Reminding them that caring adults at school are always ready to listen and help
-
Reviewing safe online and social media practices
If your child ever feels unsafe or needs support, please encourage them to reach out to a trusted adult at school or use our Anonymous Bullying Reporting Tool located on the school website.
Together, as a Christ-centred community, we can ensure that every student knows they are loved, valued, and never alone.
