We are excited to share some wonderful news from our school community—our courtyard is now home to some very special new “Braves”!
A Canada goose has chosen our courtyard as the perfect place to build her nest and begin raising her family. Geese often look for safe, enclosed, and low-traffic areas that offer protection from predators and clear visibility of their surroundings. Our courtyard provides exactly that—making SJB an ideal place for this new beginning.
We are especially excited to share that five eggs have been laid in the nest, marking the start of a new family right here at our school.
To ensure the safety and well-being of our newest visitors, every precaution has been taken to protect the nest and surrounding area. We kindly ask all students and staff to respect this space by keeping a safe distance and allowing our feathered guests the quiet environment they need.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Rowe, Mr. Fortuna, and Ms. Di Biase, who have graciously taken on additional “security duties” and are now proudly serving as SJB’s official Guardians of the Goose 🛡️🦆. Their efforts help ensure that our newest Braves remain safe and undisturbed.

Canada goose eggs typically take about 25–30 days to hatch. During this time, the mother remains close to the nest, keeping the eggs warm and protected. Once hatched, the goslings are able to walk, swim, and follow their parents within just a day!

Based on observations, the eggs were most likely laid over Easter weekend (around April 3). This means we can expect the goslings to hatch sometime between:

We are looking forward to this exciting moment and encourage everyone to continue respecting the space so we can safely witness this incredible experience together.
This is a wonderful reminder of the beauty of creation and our shared responsibility to care for all living things.
