The St. Jean de Brébeuf CSS Student Council is a passionate and energetic team of student leaders dedicated to enhancing the school experience for all. They work tirelessly to plan exciting events like pep rallies, spirit days, and themed dances, creating an atmosphere of fun and school pride. Beyond celebrations, the council leads charitable initiatives, fundraisers, and awareness campaigns, fostering a strong sense of community and compassion. Roles & Responsibilities for 2025 - 2026
President – Angelina Chittilappilly
The President provides overall leadership and direction for the Student Council. Angelina chairs meetings, ensures that student voices are heard in decision-making, and represents the council at school, board, and community events. She works closely with staff advisors and administration to support initiatives that build school spirit, strengthen Catholic community life, and give students meaningful opportunities to lead.
Vice President – Kenzie Baset
The Vice President supports the President in all duties and helps oversee the work of the council. Kenzie plays a key role in organizing activities, ensuring communication between committees, and stepping in when the President is unavailable. The Vice President also encourages participation from the wider student body and works to make sure council initiatives are inclusive and successful.
Treasurer – Celine Al-Mreif
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the Student Council. Celine tracks income and expenses, prepares budgets for events, and ensures all funds are used responsibly. By maintaining clear records and working with staff advisors, the Treasurer guarantees transparency and accountability while helping to make student-led events financially sustainable.
Social Convenor – Sofia Romero Rojas
The Social Convenor brings energy and creativity to Student Council by planning dances, pep rallies, theme days, and social events that bring the Brébeuf community together. Sofia ensures that events are inclusive, fun, and reflective of our Catholic school spirit, while also working with other council members to promote participation across all grades.
Co-Instructional Representative – Abbygail Bell-Galan
The Co-Instructional Rep connects Student Council with clubs, teams, and co-curricular activities across the school. Abbygail helps promote opportunities for student involvement, supports recognition of achievements, and encourages students to balance academics with participation in school life. This role celebrates the many talents of Brébeuf students and strengthens community through shared involvement.
Community Representative – Mia Verticchio
The Community Rep links the Student Council with the wider Hamilton community. Mia promotes service projects, volunteerism, and charitable events such as food drives, pilgrimages, and social justice initiatives. By fostering a spirit of compassion and outreach, this role ensures that Student Council reflects our Catholic mission to serve others and live out the Gospel.
Recording Officer – Angelica Kalogiros
The Recording Officer ensures clear communication and accurate records of Student Council meetings and decisions. Angelica takes minutes, keeps track of motions, and helps maintain documentation for ongoing projects. This role is essential for organization and accountability, ensuring that council initiatives are well-planned and effectively followed through.
PR / Tech Representative – Maria Lara Gonzalez
The PR and Tech Rep manages promotion, media, and technology for Student Council. Maria creates posters, announcements, and social media updates to advertise events, and supports the use of audio-visual equipment for assemblies and activities. This role helps ensure that students are informed, engaged, and excited to participate in council initiatives.
Spiritual Representative – Olivia Milinkovic
The Spiritual Rep supports the Catholic faith life of St. Jean de Brébeuf by helping plan liturgies, retreats, and other spiritual events. Olivia works closely with the Chaplaincy Team to encourage participation in faith-based activities and to integrate Catholic values into council projects. This role ensures that the spiritual dimension of student life remains central to everything we do.
ESL Representative – Mariana Acevedo Guzman
The ESL Rep represents students who are new to Canada or still learning English, ensuring their voices are included in Student Council decisions. Mariana advocates for inclusion, promotes awareness of ESL experiences, and helps new students feel welcome in the Brébeuf community. This role strengthens diversity and equity within the school.
Grade 9 Representatives - Nicholas Ferreira & Manuela Matti
Grade 9 Representatives are the voice of the Grade 9s on Student Council! They share ideas and concerns from their peers, help plan and promote fun school events, and work to build school spirit. This role is all about getting involved, making connections, and bringing fresh energy and ideas to the council. It’s a great way to be a leader, meet new people, and make Grade 9 the best it can be!
Grade 10 Representative – Hala Swaiden
The Grade 10 Rep acts as the voice of the Grade 10 class, bringing forward ideas, concerns, and feedback to Student Council. Hala encourages her peers to get involved in school events and ensures that the needs of Grade 10 students are represented in council decisions. This role builds leadership and engagement early in high school.
Grade 11 Representative – Jenaro Noman
The Grade 11 Rep represents the interests of Grade 11 students, ensuring their perspectives are considered in Student Council initiatives. Jenaro helps plan activities that strengthen school spirit, builds connections between junior and senior grades, and supports preparation for senior year responsibilities.
Grade 12 Representative – Ziv Molina
The Grade 12 Rep represents the graduating class and helps organize senior events such as prom, graduation activities, and spirit days. Ziv ensures that the voices of Grade 12 students are heard in council decisions and helps celebrate the contributions of the senior class as they prepare to leave Brébeuf with faith, pride, and lifelong memories.
