Monday, September 19, 2022 has been declared a National Day of Mourning in Canada to mark the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The day coincides with Her Late Majesty’s State Funeral in London, United Kingdom, and the end of the official period of mourning in Canada.

In Ontario, September 19 will be a day of mourning in lieu of a provincial holiday. Ontarians are invited to observe a moment of silence at 1pm.

Schools are open.

A prayer service in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be held in all schools and administrative buildings at 1pm.
