B’nai Brith Dinner honours high school athletes

St. Mary’s Abbey Maillet is this year’s co-winner of the Jeff Dickens Memorial Award. The award, named after the late Hamilton Spectator sports writer Jeff Dickens, is presented annually to two high school students – one female, one male – for athletic involvement, academic achievements and community involvement.

Also recognized at the 68th Annual B’nai Brith Hamilton Sports Celebrity Dinner on January 28, 2019 were outstanding male and female Athletes of the Year 2017-2018 from Hamilton area high schools.

Honour roll athletes from the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board include:
• Bishop Ryan: Nicki Startek and Jake Patten
• Bishop Tonnos: Alexa Fama and Nick Passaretti
• Cardinal Newman: Renata Djuravcevic and Tyler Bridgman
• Cathedral: Maddy Arnott and Dion Renaud
• St. Jean de Brébeuf: Emma Valentine and Daniel Graham
• St. Mary: Abbey Maillet and Jacob Bresolin
• St. Thomas More: Alessandra Chiarot and Michael Chris-Ike
